We are excited to introduce our latest addition to the filament family - TPU 96. This thermoplastic polyurethane is designed for maximum flexibility and durability, making it ideal for a wide range of applications, from protective covers to flexible joints and seals.
We chose to produce TPU due to its easier printability compared to TPE. Although TPE is a high-quality flexible material, it is more challenging to print, especially for hobbyists. TPU offers similar properties but with greater user-friendliness during printing.
TPU filament is suitable for both hobby projects and industrial applications. You can use it to print wheels for RC car models, grips for bicycles and motorcycles, or for producing seals and various rubber parts in the industrial sector.
TPU 96 is characterized by its high flexibility and durability, making it an ideal material for even the most demanding projects. Its ability to absorb vibrations and impacts ensures the longevity and resilience of printed parts. The material’s temperature resistance is also impressive, with a softening point of 128°C, significantly higher than TPE’s 110°C. This property allows TPU 96 to be used in more demanding conditions where higher thermal stability is required.
Another benefit of TPU 96 is its chemical resistance. The material exhibits high resistance to hydrolysis and microorganisms, making it a suitable choice for applications exposed to moisture or biological agents. However, it is important to note that TPU 96 has lower resistance to strong acids and some solvents, such as acetone or toluene.
One of the key advantages of TPU 96 is its variable hardness and flexibility, which can be achieved by adjusting the infill density. Lower infill density leads to more flexible parts, while higher density creates stiffer prints. This allows users to tailor the mechanical properties of printed parts to their specific needs.
Compared to TPE, TPU also has excellent adhesion to commonly used print beds, ensuring stable and reliable printing. The surface of TPU 96 prints is significantly glossier and smoother compared to TPE, which can be advantageous in applications where aesthetic appearance is important.
